What is it?    

The Photofractional treatment is a highly effective method for improving the appearance of stretch marks on different areas of your body. Our unique technology combines two solutions, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and ResurFX™ non-ablative skin resurfacing, so that both skin tone and texture can be treated sequentially.  

When will I see results? 

The Photofractional treatment works with your skin to stimulate deep collagen regeneration over a sequence of treatments. The result is a visible smoothening of the affected stretch mark area and an improvement in the discoloration. Usually after the first session, you will begin to notice improvement. Typically, 3-5 sessions in 2-6 weeks intervals are needed to obtain optimal results. However, you will continue to see improvements for up to six months following the treatment.

What can I expect after treatment? 

Immediately following treatment, you may experience some redness or swelling, depending on your customized treatment settings. The swelling will diminish after a few hours and the redness as quickly as the next day or over the next few days. Most patients are able to resume their daily activities the very same day. Dr. Moss advises patients to stay out of direct sun for a few weeks following the treatment and to apply sunscreen daily.

Is it right for me?  

Photofractional treatments are not suitable for everyone and may carry some risks. The Photofractional treatment is not suitable when you have active infections, viral, fungal or bacterial diseases, inflammatory skin conditions or skin cancer.  

Risks may include: redness, swelling, scarring or a change of pigmentation.  

How does it work? 

By combining both IPL and ResurFX™ technologies in the same treatment session, both skin pigmentation and texture can be treated at the same time. The IPL technology removes unwanted pigment from the skin, while the ResurFX™ fractional laser stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibers in the deeper layers of the skin. Stimulating new collagen production is the key to smoother, tighter looking skin.

The treatment  

To ensure your utmost comfort during the procedure, we will apply a topical numbing gel to the treatment area around 30 minutes prior to treatment. Depending on the area being treated, you can expect the session to last 15-30 minutes. You may experience a warm or prickling sensation as the laser is applied to the skin, but the treatment is gentle and should not feel uncomfortable.
